In one of the more memorable political videos of the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu filmed himself ordering coffee at a local café to counter rumors of his death. The clip, shared via X, blended sardonic wit with genuine warmth toward the Israeli people. It served simultaneously as a piece of public reassurance and a pointed rebuke of online misinformation.

Netanyahu leaned into a Hebrew idiom about dying for something he loves, cleverly applying it to both coffee and his country. He expressed sincere appreciation for Israeli citizens, saying their solidarity strengthened him personally and bolstered the country’s entire security apparatus. The Prime Minister made clear that civilian morale was as important to him as military strategy.

He also used the video to directly counter viral claims that a previous press conference had been faked using AI. The supposed evidence was a single frame appearing to show Netanyahu with an additional finger on one hand. The Prime Minister displayed both hands clearly and counted his fingers on camera, dismantling the conspiracy with a calm and slightly amused demeanor.

Netanyahu told Israelis that major military operations were actively underway in both Iran and Lebanon, without going into specifics that could compromise security. He reminded the public to stay near protected areas and follow official safety protocols, stressing that no one, including senior officials, was exempt from those rules. The reminder reflected genuine concern for civilian safety.

The Iranian government’s military wing, the IRGC, responded to the video not with mockery but with a formal threat to kill Netanyahu. State-run Iranian media published headlines calling for his assassination and labeling him with inflammatory language. The response underscored that even as Netanyahu made light of the situation, the threats against him were very real and officially sanctioned.
