In an effort to attract travelers during the less busy autumn and winter seasons, airlines are slashing ticket prices on routes between the UK and Spain. Ryanair, easyJet, Wizz Air, Vueling, Iberia, Iberia Express, and Air Europa have all introduced promotional fares, with some one-way tickets available for as low as £14.99 or €16.
Ryanair is offering flights in September and October starting at £14.99 on routes such as London to Castellon, Barcelona, and Valencia. For those planning to travel later in the year, November and December fares begin at approximately £19.99. EasyJet’s recent sale highlights over 780,000 discounted seats, with certain routes up to 20% off. Travelers can find deals from Gatwick to Alicante, Bristol to Malaga, and Luton to Barcelona starting at £18.99, while some October flights to Palma are priced from £15.99.
Wizz Air is increasing its footprint in Spain by opening new bases in Valencia and Madrid this November, which will likely heighten competition with Ryanair. Not to be outdone, Spanish airlines are also participating in the price reductions. Vueling is providing discounts up to 20% on 110,000 seats, with international fares starting from €16. Iberia is offering domestic flights from €24 and select European destinations from €29. Meanwhile, Air Europa’s anniversary sale features fares beginning at €25.
The primary aim of these discounted fares is to stimulate demand following the bustling summer travel period. However, it’s important to note that the lowest fares typically cover only a small under-seat bag, with additional charges for seat selection, cabin luggage, and checked bags.
Travel experts advise consumers to compare prices across different airlines and consider flying on flexible midweek dates, particularly in October, November, and January, when fares tend to be more affordable compared to peak holiday times.
